Gabrielle Caul

Gay Caul is a visual artist whose work is informed by an engagement with urban areas, particularly regenerated dockland locations. She uses geometric abstraction to capture the locations, exploring the relationships and tensions found between urban structures. Gay Caul’s artwork is reductive, using hard edged geometric forms to depict urbanisation. The placement of form, the use of line and space are significant features in her work. Contrast is used within her colour palette to capture the emergence of the new urban landscape from its industrial past. Gay Caul’s preferred medium is paint. She also works in collage, using it as a means of expression and as a creative medium to inform her paintings.
